Speech and language therapy is a crucial service for people who want to gain confidence in speaking and work on impediments or challenges. However, those services do cost money—speech therapists need to get paid, too! If you’re wondering about the best way to pay for speech therapy, Linguabilities has answers for you.
Superbills
First, it’s important to note that Linguabilities does not accept insurance for outpatient therapy services. But the good news is that we do work alongside insurance companies to make online speech therapy services affordable. We can do that with a Superbill, also known as an invoice or statement of services.
After your speech therapy session, request a Superbill from your provider. It will have the date of your session listed, as well as service and diagnostic codes for your insurance company. Submit the Superbill to your insurance company, and they will determine how much to reimburse you.
Flexible Spending Accounts
A flexible spending account, also known as an FSA, is an account through your insurance company that you can use for copays, prescription costs, and more. That money isn’t taxed, so you can save a great deal by using it for your healthcare costs.
Linguabilities does accept payments from FSAs. If you wish to pay for your speech therapy with that account, make sure you’ve got sufficient funds to cover the cost of your session.
Grants and Scholarships
Linguabilities wants to make remote speech therapy affordable for everyone who needs it. That’s why we accept a variety of scholarships and grants, including, but not limited to:
The FES-UA, or Family Empowerment Scholarship for Students with Unique Abilities. This scholarship is available in both Florida and Georgia.
The Small Steps in Speech Grant. Available in all 50 states, this grant serves kids between the ages of three and 22 who face unique speech and language challenges.
The Act4Me Grant. This therapy grant is for kids under 18 who reside in Broward and Miami-Dade Counties.
The United Healthcare Children’s Foundation Grant. This grant is available to US citizens under the age of 16.
What is the best way to pay for speech therapy? At the end of the day, it depends on your circumstances, financial and otherwise. Linguabilities works hard to make virtual speech therapy services accessible to as many people as possible.
